I am in love with a boy named Louis!

And I need money to buy him!

http://www.happydollus.com/skin/shop.php?PG=view&uid=1582

I might love dollfies, but I'm not paying out that much money for one, even if he is the most sexy piece of plastic I've ever seen. One day when I'm rich, I'm gonna buy every doll they have on that website, and go to all the bjd picnics they have at cons and cosplay with my dollfie(s).

Margo and Louis are my favourites, but they're both so gorgeous it'd be unrealistic to cosplay any characters with them. Mabel is just ADORABLE, but so cute she'd never be able to cosplay any character who had some kind of evil streak (my favourite characters!). So, reason tells me to buy Dorothy, because her face lends herself to pretty much any character I want to do, good or evil.

Heh, like it matters. It's not like I can afford to spend that much money anyway.

I must sound like such a weirdo to people who don't know anything about BJDs, which to be honest, is probably 99% of the people reading this blog. Just let it be known that I'm one of those people sad enough to do something like this:

Oh yeah, here's some eye candy for ya.

Wonderful, terrible news!

I found out today that there's gonna be another manga evening in Torquay, which is great! I always have so much fun there! Plus, I get to cosplay there, and anywhere where I get to cosplay can't be bad. It's on 1st August.

So, in conclusion,
Wonderful news: YAY! MANGA EVENING!
Terrible news: OMG! That means I have a whole month less to get my costume made! I now have one month left to finish either my Dagger or Fujin costume, as opposed to two. At least I don't have to finish them both by then, but I'll need to finish my sister's Sakura costume. Bugger.

In other news, my Dagger wig came through the post today. It's very long, and needs a bit of restyling, but it looks good.

Also, there's a pond/lake at the top of my road, and with all this rain we've been having, it's majorly overflowed. Bit of a drama on my street today. They had to get fire engines and stuff to pump all the water out. It's been going in peoples' houses! Hasn't reached my house yet. Don't think it will now. We've had news crews on our street too! They were doing a live TV broadcast earlier on our street. Me and my sister Sophie were gonna go streak or something while they were filming that, but decided not to. Sophie did scream out of the door, but you couldn't hear her on the TV. Oh well.

Panto!

I got an email this morning with what's been written so far of this year's panto script. I agreed to help finish writing it, since it was never done last year, and I need to read it through before the next meeting. By God, that's a brilliant script. Ali Baba isn't really one of my favourite pantos, but the script is fantastic. Makes me laugh ALOT. Trago Mills jokes never stop being funny. I don't know how they manage to write stuff like that. I'm hoping that when I join the script writing team I'll be able to come up with some good ideas and not just sit there offering opinions on everyone else's ideas. I already have a favourite character. That's the problem with having the script this early - I've got hell of alot more time to get attached to that character and become even more disappointed when I get a different part. There's loads of good parts in this script though. And I'm not going to be lumbered with a really heavy, unmanoeuverable candlestick costume this year either! Woohoo!

I'm gonna do some research on the subject and see if I can find any good things to put into the script.

The uncomfortable costume in question. They really should have thought that through before they decided to do Beauty and the Beast last year. I think we pulled it off though. It could have been worse - I could have had the wardrobe costume! Although at least she could get into her costume by herself. That candlestick costume was not good for the quick costume changes at the beginning and end.

This must be a photo from the dress rehearsals, since I'm not wearing my gloves. There's a few bits missing from some of the other costumes too.

Media of the moment

Yes, it's another Kingdom Hearts 2 skit. This one never stops being funny. Taken from http://www.orgythirteen.org/. The whole website kicks ass. It's all so funny, and this skit is just the tip of the iceberg. You've gotta love Xemnas' blog. I feel sorry for Demyx. He's one of my favourites from Organisation XIII, but they completely play up how stupid he really is. He's not THAT stupid, is he?

Once again, in jokes. Stuff you won't understand unless you've played the game (even more so than the last KH2 skit I posted).

Final Fantasy Character Test
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?

List of possible cosplays

I promised someone I'd post this up here, so here it is. A quite substantial list of characters I hope to cosplay one day. I've blurred out the names, because I don't want people to know what costumes I have planned for the next ten years (it actually could take that long to make that many costumes, considering how many cons I go to in a year). The list continues to grow, too.

Below is proof that I have too much time on my hands.

A really knowledgeable anime fan could probably figure out the characters by the pros and cons I've listed for each. Anyone who can guess them all correctly gets a badge of honour on this blog. Only if you get there first though! Haha! Clue - they're in alphabetical order.

I bet in ten years time when I've forgotten all about this blog, someone will email me with the correct list, and I'll be like 'Oh yeah, I forgot all about that!'. I'll probably also laugh at how different my list of possible cosplays back then (now) is to my list of actual cosplays (in the future).

Media of the moment

Yes, it's a dance off skit - the most overdone type of skit in existence, but this is actually a good one.

I love Launch. She's by far the best character in Dragonball. She just seemed to disappear from existence in Dragonball Z though, which was rather disappointing. I'm suprised they didnt bring her back for Dragonball GT - they brought enough stuff back for that from the orginal Dragonball series that really shouldn't have been brought back.

Just some information about Launch for people who don't know her before you watch this skit. She changes personality whenever she sneezes. One personality, she has blue hair and is really nice and a bit naive. Second personality, she has blonde hair and likes to shoot things. She is really commanding and shouts alot.

Yes, she is on my (seemingly neverending) list of possible cosplays, except I need a con in the height of summer to wear a costume like that.

Anyway, enjoy the skit. The film quality isn't that great. Live with it.

Guess where I'm going!

Yay for ALcon! Train tickets came through the post today! That means I'm now officially going! It hasn't been a complete waste of time and money making these costumes!

One thing I find absurd though. How come it costs me £13 to get from home to Leicester, but £40.05 to come back? Where is the logic in that?

I'd like you all to take a look at this spreadsheet. This is where I keep track of the ridiculous amount of money my costumes cost. I like to pretend that big number on the right doesn't exist. And you know what? This is just for ONE costume. There are two others that are mine! Two more for my sister too (although she pays for most, if not all, of her costume materials). Yes, that spreadsheet is for my most expensive costume, but the others aren't any less than half, if not two thirds of that price.

I don't condone swearing, but I do condone this song.

I completely love the Banana Phone song. My sister and I have both been known to have such an affliction ourselves, although we haven't killed anyone from it yet.

Taken from www.albinoblacksheep.com. They've got a ton of other cool Flashes over there, so go check them out!

Inkheart Movie!

http://www.corneliafunke.de/en/film/film-116.html

This page has way too much information on it. I really didnt need to see those pictures. Damn! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT FILM TO COME OUT!!!!! All the characters look exactly as I imagined them.

Unfortunately, it'll be well into 2008.

No official pictures of Capricorn and Basta yet, which is disappointing. They are two of the most scary villians ever to exist. I want to see if they look like I imagined.

The film is adapted from one of my fav books - Inkheart. If you haven't read it, shame on you!

Too much cosplay stuff!

My bedroom as it is at the moment, full of cosplay stuff. The sad thing is, even though there's four costumes here, there's a load of stuff missing. I have far too much cosplay stuff. That I can think of, there's still three wigs, a pinwheel, two pairs of trousers, a blouse, a tie, several pairs of shoes, then all the accessories that go with any costume like makeup and wig caps, matching underwear etc etc (because you can't wear black undies underneath a bright orange bodysuit) missing from this photo!
This blog makes me sound completely obsessed about cosplay. Well, I suppose I am. I don't really have anything better to do with my time right now!

Friday, 15 June 2007

I remember a time when cosplay didn't completely rule my life. Hell, I even remember a time when cosplay wasn't in my life AT ALL. I can't think what I used to do with myself before I had costumes to be making.

I'm so bored right now. I have four costumes on the go at the moment. You'd have thought that at least one of them would have something to keep me busy with, but no. I need to buy some more stuff for them, but there's nowhere local that sells it. The only exception is my sister's Sakura costume, but I can't do anything to it while she's not here! Gah!

Looks like I'll have to play Final Fantasy 12 again. Balthier isn't going to fancy himself. ^_^

He has the sexiest voice in the world. I've really got to find out who does it so I can hide in the bushes outside his house.

Unless you've played Kingdom Hearts 2, you won't gett 99.9% of the jokes in this skit, but it very much made me laugh. I hope to do a skit of my own some day. I just don't have anyone to do it with.

Oh noes! My hair is grey! :O

Seriously, this is the best wig in the world.
Wish I could say the same for my blonde Android 18 wig. I tried it on tonight whilst I had my wig cap on anyway for this photo, and it's just crap. I played around with it alot, but it wasn't really a great wig to begin with. Now I'm lumbered with the impossible task of trying to find a blonde kanekalon wig with a side parting. Not an easy thing to find! Anyone sees one anywhere, please let me know!

Saturday, 9 June 2007

I don't know how much more of this 5 day working week I can take. I'm completely knackered and I spend my few days off trying to cram in the stuff I havent been able to do the rest of the week. Monday is my next day off - naturally I'm worn out and need to sleep, but I can't because I need blue cotton and yellow ribbon for my cosplay!

My grey wig came in the post this morning for my Fujin cosplay. It's a really beautiful wig. Skin top and kanekalon fibre. It's the best wig I've ever owned. Suprisingly, I think the grey flipped bob cut actually suits me. My wig head, whose name is Betty, now has a new hairstyle.

Needs a little restyling to be accurate for Fujin, but it looks really good when I've got it on.

I always knew this stress from cosplay would end up turning my hair grey, but not when I'm 20!

Sorry there's no photo of me with it on. I should have taken one before I took the wig off, but I forgot, and it's a pain getting all my hair inside, even with a wig cap.

My deprived childhood

A certain friend of mine tells me that I must have had a deprived childhood since I'm 20 and I still like the Powerpuff Girls. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one my age who still likes stuff like that. I suppose it is a little embarrasing, maybe. I wouldnt admit it to a crowd of strangers, I'll admit (and yet here I am posting it on the internet), but I'm sure everyone in the world has some embarrassing hobby or interest that they wouldn't admit to others. I'm sure I must have more than most people though. In fact, the large majority of my interests/hobbies I wouldnt tell everyone else.

Elsewhere in the world, I've finished putting the straps on my legs for my Dagger cosplay, but I'm having trouble finding buckles. I don't want to make them myself if I can help it. If anyone knows where I can buy 3 inch tall buckles in silver, let me know! Also, my grey wig for my Fujin cosplay is in the post, so should be here in 10-20 days! Yay!

Media of the moment

I love my videos on Youtube, so I'll be adding new media to my blog every so often to keep everyone else in touch with what I'm doing on the internet.

Craze of the moment is The Powerpuff Girls - the episode See Me, Feel Me Gnomey, to be precise. I just love films and TV where people just spontaneously burst into song. I can't help myself, even when it's the Powerpuffs. I'd like to pretend that I'd grown out of this kind of stuff by now, but I haven't.

Watch for the baby in the first song. I can't be the only one who thinks it sounds just like the baby from Um Jammer Lammy.

Parts 2 and 3 can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf5jyw2f_wE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4VqNdNj5AY

I love Bubbles' song at the beginning of part two about being normal little girls. She's so cute!

Things going on at the moment

I've just finished my exams for this year of uni, so that's good. In theory I should have lots of time on my hands, except for that my evil boss is making me work. I agreed to work one week, and he's not even asking me any more! He's just assuming that I'm available all week every week! It's amazing the amount of people who have left since we had this new manager in. I'm sure one of the big guys in the company have gotta notice some time soon the correllation between the fact we have a new manager and everybody's leaving.

Cosplay costumes are coming along well at the moment. Planning to go to ALcon in Leicester in September, and I'm making one costume for each day of the con. I'm reusing my Android 18 costume again, as well as making Dagger from Final Fantasy 9 and Fujin from Final Fantasy 8. I'm updating the costumes on cosplay.com regularly, so keep checking back.

First post!

No, I don't know what possessed me to start a blog either, especially since I never maintain my journal on GaiaOnline either. But anyway, here it is.

Most of the people reading this probably know most of the stuff I'll write in this post here, but I'll write it anyway.

In fact, I'm really lazy, so I'm just going to copy and paste from my Gaia profile! Mwahahaha!

Ah, what to write about myself?I'm currently a second year at the University of Plymouth studying BSc Computing. It's alright, but gets kinda boring sometimes.I like writing alot. Not fanfic, or poems or short stories, anything like that, but full scale books. My record so far is somewhere aroung 48,000 words on one story.PC games are good. I'm into city building games and the occasional god-sim like Dungeon Keeper 2, Populous, Pharaoh, Caesar, Emperor, all that kind of stuff. Also into Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts in a big way. Ploughing my way through Final Fantasy 12 at the moment. I was expecting to have it finished by now, but I've been so short of time. I should probably spend more time playing the game and less time drooling over Balthier. ^_~Also read books. The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer is amazing, as is the Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke. Also into manga in a small way, not like some of you otaku who are probably reading this. I'm more selective in what I read. I like Chobits, Dr Slump, Dragonball/DBZ (I also enjoy complaining about DBGT), Tenchi and Oh My Goddess.Cosplay has made it's way into my list of hobbies recently too. I cosplayed Android 18 from Dragonball Z back in March, and really loved it. Now I'm obsessed with cosplay, and am making a Dagger costume from Final Fantasy 9 to possibly wear to Alcon in Leicester in September. I'm a fully fledged member of cosplay.com now, and I go there all the time. You can view my profile and costumes here:http://members.cosplay.com/member/65768/Also been self-teaching myself to play guitar in the last few months, and as a result have no feeling in the fingers of my left hand any more. Whoops.
